We are grateful for the support to our campaign from many local residents, councillors, MPs, and an increasing number of friendly local associations.
We are particularly grateful this afternoon to the Ruislip Residents’ Association, who have kindly highlighted our campaign to all of the residents’ associations across Hillingdon via HARA, the Hillingdon Association of Residents’ Associations.
While highlighting John Scrivens’s heartfelt plea for support to their own residents, the RRA found a 2021 video where Councillor Eddie Lavery urged everyone to support the Rural Activities Garden Centre. We couldn’t agree more, Cllr Lavery. Please – everyone – do support us!
Hillingdon’s Mayors have been great supporters of the RAGC over the years too, with a summer visit and photo opportunity always a popular day in the calendar when we have had opportunity to show off our facilities and demonstrate the wonderful work and facilities at our centre. We hope that many future Mayors will also be able to visit and see our progress.

About the video clip
The video contains Councillor Eddie Lavery saying “Do support the Rural Activities Garden Centre because they have a marvellous selection of plants”. This video is from April 2021 while launching Hillingdon in Bloom – posted by London Borough of Hillingdon on Facebook. However, in June 2025, the same Councillor Eddie Lavery is now planning to close the very same Rural Activities Garden Centre.
How to help
We have petitions and calls to action, which we strongly urge everyone to support. As Cllr Lavery said himself, the RAGC is a marvellous place, and we do not wish to see it closed. Please do what you can to show your support and spread the word.
