The RAGC has been closed to the public for some time , but for now work is going on as normal for the staff and volunteers. We are trying to put together a proposal for an alternative funding model which would keep the centre open at no cost to the council. The placements which the council is proposing instead of the RAGC are completely unsuitable for many of the volunteers.
The council is currently running a consultation on the future of the RAGC and the deadline is Tuesday 7th October.
The consultation itself is flawed, and we have written asking for it to be amended and restarted, but have not had a reply. It’s vital that the council be made to feel the full strength of local opposition to the proposed closure, so for all its flaws, please participate in the consultation.
