As the Rural Activities Garden Centre in the London Borough of Hillingdon faces closure, this short film by Megan Williams looks at what the RAGC means to some of the people involved with it.
The Rural Activities Garden Centre (RAGC) is so much more than a garden centre. For over 30 years, it has been a sanctuary for adults with learning difficulties and autism, providing a safe, enriching, and joyful space where they can grow. Here, they are not just volunteers—they are valued members of a community, building confidence and finding a sense of purpose.
We’ve heard countless stories that show the RAGC’s profound impact. Volunteers find happiness and independence, and their families see them thrive. Some doctors have even noted that for their patients, the RAGC has reduced their need for medication. This is a vital service that provides natural healing and invaluable support.
The threat of closure looms over the RAGC, and we cannot let this happen. The loss would be devastating, leaving a gaping hole in the lives of those who depend on it. This is why we, the Friends of the RAGC, are still campaigning to keep its gates open.
We are not alone. The support from the Hillingdon community has been overwhelming. Together, we can make our voices heard and protect this essential part of our community. Join our campaign.
