The proposed closure of the Rural Activities Garden Centre (RAGC) in Colham has sparked devastation among learning disabled volunteers and their families, with over 4,500 signing a petition against Hillingdon Council’s decision.

For volunteers like Terry, the centre is a lifeline; he shared that before coming to RAGC, he had “stopped leaving the house” after caring for his mother, and now fears he “won’t be doing anything again” if it closes.

Despite the council claiming a loss of £137,000 and promising alternative opportunities, volunteers and their families emphasize the critical routine, purpose, and community the garden centre provides, arguing that many would be “stuck at home” without it.
